The borders of Australia will reopen on December 1 to foreigners with valid visas who are completely immunized, according to a media statement made by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on November 22.
Who may apply?
If you belong to one of the following groups, you are eligible to travel to and enter Australia starting in December:
- Expert personnel
- Those with student visas
- Temporary family visa holders
- Workers on vacation
- Individuals with humanitarian visas
What are the specifications?
You don’t need to submit a travel exemption application, which is fantastic news!
But you have to:
- possess a finished dose of a vaccine that Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration has approved or recognized (TGA)
- possess a visa under a category that qualifies
- Show documentation of your immunization history.
- Present a COVID-19 PCR test that was negative and was performed no more than three days before your departure for Australia.
- Follow all quarantine regulations in the state or territory where you are arriving as well as any other states or territories you intend to visit.
Why are there just a few visa holders?
In line with the National Plan to safely reopen Australia, the adjustments, according to Prime Minister Scott, “will ensure we continue to protect the health of Australians, while reuniting families and securing our economic recovery.”
He went on to explain that the influx of skilled employees and foreign students will boost Australia’s vital education industry by supplying the quality workers the nation needs.
Australian parents are already able to travel to Australia
On November 1st, Australia’s borders were once again open to parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents.
Parents can only go to states and territories that have attained 80% of their double-dose vaccination targets, and they must ask for a travel exemption.
As of the time of writing, parents can visit the ACT, New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania. With 78.52% of its population completely immunized, South Australia might be the next state to welcome new parents.
